ASME helps the global engineering community develop solutions to real world challenges. Founded in 1880 as The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a nonprofit professional organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing and skill development across all engineering disciplines, while promoting the vital role of the engineer in society. ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education, and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world. From college students and early-career engineers to project managers, corporate executives, researchers and academic leaders, ASME's members are as diverse as the engineering community itself.


We are currently seeking an Intern to join our Global Public Affairs (GPA) team. ASME's GPA department is the convergence point for ASME's public policy work, as well as much of its international operations. The primary responsibility of the GPA intern will be supporting the Government Relations, India, and China teams. The GPA Intern will also work closely with the GPA Program Manager to coordinate operational and administrative departmental activities.


Responsibilities include:


  • Providing operational and administrative support for the department
  • Tracking current issues and global trends that could impact ASME's international operations
  • Attending government, international, and/or engineering-focused events and webinars
  • Assisting in the coordination and promotion of GPA meetings and activities
  • Supporting Policy Impact 2022 and the ASME Federal Fellows recruitment, as necessary
  • Assisting in outreach to ASME stakeholders in government, academia, and industry
  • Other duties as assigned


This role requires a proven track record of demonstrating knowledge, excellence and practical experience in the following technical and professional skills and competencies:

  • Ability to manage simultaneous assignments and projects
  • Ability to complete assignments on time and deliver quality, detail-oriented work
