Marketing & Communications (Risk) Summer Internship

Duration: June 6 - August 19, 2022

Due to the complexity of the COVID-19 pandemic, this internship will likely be entirely remote, depending on PSCU's onsite business practices by Summer 2022, there is a chance that we may host onsite meetings or events in St. Petersburg, FL

Risk Division

Being part of the Risk Division at PSCU exposes you to an industry-leading organization for identifying and mitigating financial losses for PSCU's Financial Institutions and their cardholders. The Risk Division - which is comprised of our Risk Analytics, Fraud Detection Work Center, Fraud Management, Collections, and Recovery groups - is passionate about our mission, our culture, our dedication to excellence, and our commitment to our team members. We collaborate with partners across PSCU in continual efforts to stay at the forefront of the ever-changing risk and fraud environment. Working for the Risk Division, your contributions will impact strategic objectives and enable PSCU to deliver on our mission to provide an unparalleled experience for our employees and service for our Owner credit unions.

Fraud Detection

The Fraud Detection department is over 500 individuals protecting our credit unions and their credit and debit cardholders from fraud. Employing a variety of tools to protect accounts, we identify fraud trends, monitor suspicious activity, contact cardholders, and process fraud reports. We are committed to developing and equipping our team members for success as we serve our clients. As we are a call center environment, effective communication and ongoing education for team members are vitally important for client satisfaction, skill development, and keeping abreast of the fraud landscape.

Risk Marketing & Communications Internship

Goals and Objectives

As an intern with Risk Fraud Detection, you will build an end-to-end framework for a sustainable department-wide internal communications program leveraging your skills in marketing, communication standards, branding, and impactful messaging. Elements include effective communication for ongoing education, standardizing templates, reigniting a rewards and recognition program, incorporation of social media and/or gamification for incentives, contests, and recognition. Coordinating with multiple members of the leadership team, you will audit current state, analyze needs and the audience, and bring your creativity to a framework proposal.

You will leverage surveys, MS Teams, Outlook, MS Office Suite, SharePoint, department Knowledge Base, and Marketing department branding resources.

The PSCU's Summer Internship Program provides you - a junior or senior undergraduate student - with the chance to develop and hone your skills in business. We offer the opportunity to build for your future by learning firsthand the Financial and more specifically Credit Union industry through professional inter-organizational experience, coupled with focused learning opportunities in your chosen career path or developmental interest. You'll also gain insight into our rich history, our unique culture, and our committed social conscience.

Over the course of this 10-week program, it is PSCU's goal to provide our interns not only with a real job experience that better prepares future graduates for their chosen profession, but to provide them the knowledge and experience vital to navigate a business environment.

In our program, interns will engage with a group of their peers in acquiring a knowledge foundation in Credit Unions, the financial industry, Six Sigma, preparing for a job search, presentation skills, and more. You will also be given opportunities to network directly with industry leaders at PSCU.

PSCU Intern Program Entry Qualifications

  • Completion of sophomore or junior year in an accredited undergraduate degree program with a 3.0/4.0 GPA at time of application.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate thoughts, communicate, completely, and concisely.

  • Strong, organizational, and detail skills, with the ability to consistently perform as business requests.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Ability to adjust easily when directions and priorities change on short notice.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite with a heavy emphasis on Excel.

  • Proficiency in software that applies to your major and function-specific internship.

  • Passion for learning the Credit Union Industry.

Risk Fraud Detection Internship Requirements

  • Understanding of marketing and communication principles

  • Ability to organize projects including timelines

  • Thorough knowledge of project and change management processes and principles

  • Proficiency or experience with creating, implementing, and assessing surveys, roundtables, etc.

  • Proficiency or experience analyzing survey data to create client solutions.
