Job Description

Wanted: An experienced Oracle DBA with demonstrated experience in administering, testing, and implementing computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases. Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.

A week in the life of a Oracle DBA: 

  • Install Oracle 7,8,8i,9i,10g,11g,11i binaries, upgrade and patch, re-linking of executables, migrate and upgrade databases and applications, and back up types physical/logical, hot and cold. 
  • Install, configure, back up, recover, upgrade, patch, migrate SQL tuning and database tuning. 
  • Administer and troubleshoot Oracle databases including security patching, capacity planning, and schema design. 
  • Perform daily monitoring of database environment and take corrective action, as necessary.
  • Develop backup and recovery policies and procedures for Oracle databases for both physical and logical failures. 
  • Support X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7 for HW, SW, patching, performance, and network issues. 
  • Create two node Hadoop cluster (version 2.10.0) on Ubuntu. 
  • Design and implement the complete RMAN solution for backup and recovery. 
  • Support Oracle Exadata and Exalogic deployments.

If this position is performed from Colorado, pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $106,000-$177,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. Pursuant to Colorado law, the actual compensation paid for this position may be outside of this range. Job Requirements
  • A minimum of 12 years of recent and relevant experience.  
  • Required certification: Oracle Database 12c Administration Certified Professional, Oracle RAC & Grid Certified Expert.  
  • Preferred education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in information technology management or a related field. 
  • Domain expertise: Database, OS, Languages, Virtualization, DevSecOps, Big Data.
  • Technical skills: Oracle Exadata, Linux X4, X5, X6, X7, Scripting: Bash/Korn shell, Perl, Python, Windows, VMware vSphere, Hypervisor Type1 (ESXi); installed Red Hat Linux 7.3, Hypervisor Type2 VMware, Oracle VirtualBox, SDLC: Waterfall, Agile, DevOps, Oracle Config Mgr, AD, Windows OS, IBM Hadoop, Bash/Korn shell scripting, WebSphere, GitHub, Eclipse, Java, LDAP, OBIEE, PL/SQL.  
  • Other preferred certifications: Oracle 11g: RAC and Grid Infrastructure Administration Accelerated, Oracle Cloud Infra Found Assoc, AWS Oracle Cloud Infra Found Assoc.  
  • Previous Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel clearance preferred but not required. 
  • Prior experience with and knowledge of TSA’s mission priorities, systems, and applications preferred but not required. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.  Ability to coordinate across large groups of people at multiple levels.
