Job Description

General Function:

Interpret blue prints, program, set-up, build and inspect parts in the tool room environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Operate and program all CNC machines to specified tolerances.

  1. Produces prototype and sample products.

  1. Required knowledge of steels, stresses, and materials.

  1. Ability to see and compare slight differences in shape, size, etc., of objects.

  1. Responsible for good housekeeping of work area and equipment.

  1. Responsible for reporting any indications of needed maintenance.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D. Completed technical school courses in machining preferred. Certified Journeyman Machinist preferred. Requires use of advanced shop math, complicated drawings, and a wide variety of precision measuring instruments. Over one year of experience with certificate from approved Journeyman school or 3 - 5 years experience operating and programming CNC machines without certificate. Required to have CNC Lathes and CNC Mills experience. Knowledge of Okuma, Mazatrol, G Code and other conversational CNC programming required. Master Cam experience required.

Reasoning Ability:

Requires the use of considerable judgement to plan, layout, and perform work of an unusual and difficult nature where only general methods and trade practices are available. Machining operations of complex parts where considerable study is required to determine the best sequence of operations, to select the machines and tools to perform the operations or to modify existing tools and equipment to do the job.
