Job Description

MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years minimum experience with Windows Server Management
  • 3 years minimum experience with VMWare ESXI, vCenter, Horizon and Cloud Pod Architecture
  • Experience IAVM DoD security implementation including STIG and security tools
  • 2-year Degree (e.g. AAS in related IT fields) and Active DoD 8570 Level II Certification (e.g. Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of VDI build and administration experience preferably in a Department of Defense (DoD) or Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) environment
  • 3-5 years of build, configuration, and administration of VMware Horizon View and/or Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDI) within a Department of Defense (DoD) or Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) environment

DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred; will consider additional years of related experience in lieu of a degree
  • 3-5 years of VDI build and administration experience preferably in a Department of Defense (DoD) or Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) environment
  • Experience in ForcePoint High Speed Guard, Radiant Mercury, and/or other Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) Technologies
  • 6 years of experience as a systems administrator/engineer in a medium to large Enterprise environment supporting a variety of operating systems
  • VMware 7.0 installation, configuration, security hardening and administration as well as Horizon View 8
  • Citrix DaaS and VDI Installation, Configuration, security hardening and administration
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, Windows 11 installation, configuration and security hardening experience
  • Experience hardening Windows 11, to include replicating the Standard Host Baseline (SHB) Process
  • Active Directory Domain Services and Group Policy installation, configuration and administration
  • Domain Name System (DNS) and BIND installation and configuration experience including DNSSEC
  • Ability to run, build and execute PowerShell scripts for diagnostics, repairs or automation
  • Secure Socket Layer (SSL) & Transport Layer Security (TLS) and other cipher suites and how to enforce them for workstations and servers
  • Exceptional organizational, verbal and written skills
  • Experience with Nutanix HyperVisor (AHV) and Enterprise Cloud Administration
  • Must have experience with implementing Cyber-Security best practices
  • Experience administering and implementing VDI Architecture in conjunction with Forcepoint Trusted Thin Client (TTC)

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Scientific Research Corporation (SRC) is an advanced information technology engineering company that provides innovative products and services to government and private industry, as well as independent institutions. This team is challenged daily to provide cutting edge technology solutions to our clients.

SRC is searching for a mid-level Windows System Administrator with experience in installation and configuration of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (e.g. Citrix) to support United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) systems. These systems will consist of an on-premises Nutanix Hyper-Converged Private Cloud utilizing VMware ESXi Hypervisor and associated products, with future migration to Nutanix's native Hypervisor. The Private Cloud hosts classified USSPACECOM Mission Systems and Web Services including several Program of Record (PoR) Systems and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure including Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers. Work will be conducted at the government's facilities in Colorado Springs, CO.

  • Operates, manages, and maintains On-Prem VMware Horizon Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) for the customer to include troubleshooting, break fix activities, the patching and remediation of servers, and system audit log reviews as necessary
  • Performs actions as a Windows System Administrator on Servers and Client images
  • Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, and system engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users, and customer and IT management
  • Works across disciplines to isolate issues between software, firmware, and hardware, between software and operating systems, between networks and applications, and between one-time events and recurrent systemic problems
  • Designs and documents installation and configuration solutions
  • Creates templates and machine images based on user requirements
  • Performs maintenance and patching of the environment
  • Level 2/3 support for our internal staff
  • Works remotely using USNORTHCOM Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to support COVID-19 safety protocols, On-Call (after hours) and Contingency Operations
